“I like that my collaboration with Barbour plays with that past while staying modern”: Meet Alexa Chung

This is your seventh collaboration with Barbour. Where did you get your inspiration for this new collection from?
Alexa Chung : I wanted to emphasize comfort as much as style. The tartans hidden in the lining of the Blair jacket (my favourite) were an opportunity to put my spin on classic Barbour fabrics. Our Nevis jacket is of great quality while looking like it’s straight out of the ’60s. What I loved most about this collaboration is the tapping into the brand’s roots to modernize it. And as always, special attention was paid to the specific colors of the jackets and coats. For example, our Bonnie jacket, available in sunny yellow, is the perfect shade to wear with jeans. So an urban style that could also accompany you in the country.

The collaboration between Barbour and Alexa Chung in 3 words?
Elegant, classic and practical.

How do you explain the success of the Barbour jackets almost 90 years after their creation?
In my opinion it is a brand that excels in what it does and has never deviated from its original idea. They make waterproof clothing and because their design has never changed and they carry on a certain tradition, Barbour has become the brand of choice for anyone looking for something to keep them warm and dry while being kinda dry, “iconic”. I like that our collaboration plays with the past while staying modern.
