Check out the first images of the remake in a new trailer

More than fourteen years after its release, Dead Space is making a comeback in a complete next-gen remake. We were also able to see the first images in a first gameplay trailer.

[Mis à jour le 05 octobre 2022 à 17h29] One of the most popular series of horror games is making a comeback next January with the release of a remake of Dead Space. The title, originally released in 2008 by Visceral Games Studios, then offered us an unprecedented experience on the borders of the 26th century Milky Way, marking the ghosts with its claustrophobic atmosphere and distinct and menacing gore. After being forgotten after an excellent sequel and a rather mediocre third installment, it was brought back to the fore a year ago after announcing the impending release of a remake of the first installment. Developed by EA Motive, this re-creation takes the universe created by Glen Schofield and brings it up to date thanks to the Frostbite Engine. The game will also feature new dialogues, including new dialogues by Isaac Clarke that were silent in the original game and in this new one Version voiced by Gunner Wright. Also, we could see the first images in a new gameplay trailer. It’s just below.

Flickering lights, vibrating violin strings and creaking hallways, Dead Space is without a doubt back. EA Motive on Tuesday brought us the first gameplay trailer for Dead Space Remake, providing us with the first “modern” images of the 2008 title. Based on the Frostbite Engine, this new game aims to fully restore Visceral Games’ masterpiece new lines of dialogue and above all new graphics. A good opportunity for fans and amateurs to experience the horrors of the planet breaker ISG-Ishimura again or for the first time.

Confirming some rumors of a possible Dead Space release delay to 2023, EA Motive has set the release to January 27, 2023. We’ll then celebrate the return of this great classic, more than 14 years after its initial release, before quickly erasing the smiles from our faces as we face the horrors that await us in the great void of space. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5 and the Xbox series, and there hasn’t been any mention of it possibly coming to Xbox Game Pass, although EA and Xbox are known to be close to both catalogues.

To answer that question fairly quickly, no, this new release is not compared to Dead Space 4 in any way. “Isaac Clarke and John Carver following the events of Dead Space 3. We’ll have to wait a little longer for that.

If you don’t know the story of Dead Space, we will try to present it to you without spoiling you too much. The action takes place in the year 2508. The earth can no longer meet the needs of its inhabitants, mankind goes in search of resources in the vastness of space, on board huge mining ships, the surface breakers. One of them, ISG Ishimura, suddenly stopped responding to messages. A small team of engineers are then sent on board to try and restore contact, including Isaac Clarke, the character you play.

A little throwback to the past, it’s 2008 and a promising game is starting to make a little noise. Created by Glenn Schofield and the teams at Visceral Games, this is Dead Space, an ultra-violent futuristic thriller that transports you into the freezing and silent vacuum of space in the 26th century. Aside from that, Dead Space is unique, although it does pick up on some terrifying elements of the awesome extraterrestrial by Ridley Scott. The game plunges the player into an unpredictable hell, confiscating their usual sense of impunity, the deus ex machina of power, in exchange for permanent danger sustained by an eerie sound and visual atmosphere and, man can it say aggressive. An impact and scope quite similar to the Silent Hill games while trading psychological violence for uncompromising gore. This will make the first two Dead Space games legends and license to the pantheon of the best horror games of all time. Well, this franchise is back! Recreated by EA Motive Studios, Dead Space, the first of the name, will be fully restored in a future remake. A modern take on the 2008 game that we recently spotted in a first gameplay trailer.

Although EA has released little information about this highly anticipated next version, we already know that it will be coming to next-gen consoles and PC. A decision that seems logical if we take into account the expected release date. If this title sees the light of day in early 2023, it’s very likely that next-gen consoles will dominate the market by then. It’s true that their current inventory situation doesn’t bode well, but if we are to believe some analysts, this permanent disruption in supplies should end sometime in 2024.

Unfortunately, if you read the few lines above, you will have understood that Dead Space will not be released on either PS4 or Xbox One. The remake is reserved both for next-gen consoles and for the PC that wants to take full advantage of the technical possibilities of the new consoles. Indeed, this Dead Space remake remains quite ambitious visually and sonically, an ambition that puts it above the performance of PS4 and Xbox One. The good news is that the game will no doubt look extremely beautiful and take full advantage of the Frostbite graphics engine.

Prepare to return to the sinister ISG Ishimura on January 27th to battle the Necromorphs in an all-out horror adventure on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.
