TWITTER – Elon Musk hasn’t been Flash since he bought Twitter. The new boss of the social network has therefore asked the employees of the social network individually to commit themselves by this Thursday, November 17th “thoroughly” for the company, otherwise they will be terminated, according to an internal letter.

“To build a groundbreaking Twitter 2.0 and thrive in an increasingly competitive world, we must push ourselves, to the extreme.”wrote the new majority shareholder of the platform in this internal message.

“It means working long hours at high intensity”he continued. “Only excellent performances bring a sufficient grade. »

The manager asked staff to follow his approach by clicking a box ” Yes indeed “ and stated that if they did not do so before 5 p.m. New York time this Thursday, they would be leaving Twitter with compensation equal to three months’ salary.

A method that conflicts even in the United States, where labor laws protect workers less than in many developed countries.

After arriving at the helm of the group in San Francisco at the end of October, Elon Musk fired most of the company’s senior executives, while others resigned, leaving him almost entirely in charge.

He brought in engineers from his flagship Tesla to help him assess Twitter employees before laying off around half of the platform’s 7,500 employees just under a week after the acquisition.

Severe turbulence

On Wednesday, at a hearing in a legal dispute over his compensation at Tesla, the billionaire assured that Tesla executives had come voluntarily.

He clarified that a “fundamental restructuring of the organization” from Twitter would be “most likely” completed this week.

When the frenzy of the beginnings was over “I think I’ll cut down on the time I spend on Twitter and find someone else to lead.” business, he said.

“This is excellent news!! » responded Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, who relays the concerns of the market and Tesla investors about the behavior of the conglomerate. “This whole circus on Twitter needs to stop… It’s hurting[Tesla’s]brand image” commented Dan Ives last Thursday.

The social network is going through severe turbulence, marked in particular by the withdrawal of several large advertisers who have suspended their purchases of advertising space on the platform, the group’s main source of revenue.

Elon Musk has warned Twitter teams that the company risks bankruptcy if it fails to generate more revenue in the coming months.

In the usual manner, the bizarre leader has alternated between threats, prophecies, abrupt decisions and sarcasm in the past few days.

Several engineers have been fired since Monday for questioning or criticizing the new boss on Twitter or the company’s internal messaging system, according to their tweets and those of Elon Musk.

“I want to apologize for firing these geniuses. Her immense talent will no doubt be very useful elsewhere.”joked on Tuesday who presents himself as the ultimate defender of free speech.
