Hyundai Ioniq 6: more than 600 km of autonomy!

Launched in June 2022 and based on the Prophecy concept vehicle, the Ioniq 6 inherits the group’s modular platform for E-GMP electricity and adopts an 800V electric architecture. Thus, with two different battery capacities (77.4 kWh and 53 kWh). and two drive modes (RWD and 4WD), Hyundai’s electrified sedan will be one of the most efficient general-purpose electric vehicles on the market. In fact, according to the manufacturer’s WLTP cycle, the Ioniq 6 can reach up to 614 km of autonomy. Few electric models are currently able to offer such autonomy.

The Ioniq 6 takes full advantage of the E-GMP platform to offer the longest wheelbase in its segment (2.95m), benefiting habitability. Above all, it offers a fast charge capacity at 800V, which allows it to gain up to 351 km of autonomy in 15 min and go from a 10% to 80% charge level in about 18 min. The use of this platform has also allowed the manufacturer to focus its efforts on aerodynamics, where significant efforts have been made to reduce the drag coefficient.

Consumption efficiency range of the Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Ioniq 6 can indeed boast a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21, the lowest in the Hyundai range and one of the best in the automotive industry. It is better than the Tesla Model 3 (Cx 0.23) and only slightly worse than the Mercedes EQS (Cx 0.20). As a reminder, in the radius of the records we have to reckon with the Lightyear 0, which has not yet entered production and, according to the manufacturer, will be the most aerodynamic production car in the world with a record drag coefficient. from 0.175.

Such work on aerodynamics is not a technical fad; Hyundai worked on an active air flap, wheel air curtains to minimize airflow, an integrated rear spoiler and wheel arch reductions. If the Ioniq 6 is one of the most streamlined sedans in the world, it notably indicates a consumption of 13.9 kWh/100 km in the 56 kWh battery configuration, two-wheel drive and 18-inch rims or 429 km.

Hyundai sends us this table of consumption and autonomy, which in turn we will send to you.

For information, this evening of October 5, 2022, the drafting of Digital will take part in the official French presentation. We can’t wait to try it and verify the figures announced by the manufacturer.
