Yakapiocher, the bar with 450 board games that young and old in the 1st | discoveries

Since March 2nd, 2022, a new cheerful, festive and gourmet residential area has opened its doors in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon. At Yakapiocher, young and old come together around a common passion: gaming.Born from the encounter of Margot, Greg and Cyrille, three great lovers of board games, the concept corresponds to the image of its owners: versatile, fun and extremely welcoming. And if the address has been a hit since opening, that’s also because each of the three partners brought their stone to the building to make it an exceptional place between games, families, pastries, beers and cocktails.

The spot extends over two floors with approx. 50 each adorned with parquet floors, wooden tables, leather sofas and gaming tables, but above all with a magnificent fresco by the Lyon artist Spirale, Yakapiocher offers a trifle of 450 board games for all ages and all levels. And unlike other similar concepts, Yakapiocher offers completely open and free access to games. We rely on trust and everyone is invited to “play along” and consume during the frenzied games. And young children in all this: don’t panic, they too are entitled to their own space with a full range of toys provided. Parents can therefore play in peace while toddlers do the same.

450 board games, local cuisine and house cocktails

If the games obviously occupy a central place, the house also knows how to inspire its guests with a very nice menu. Gourmet first with different croques prepared with bread from the neighboring Boulangerie des Canuts, Hot Dogs, 8 panels to share topped mostly with produce from the Point du Jour market (including a homemade vegetarian one), advanced pastries and homemade ice cream (distributed by Sur le Bout de la Langue). Yakapiocher also pulls out all the stops when it comes to drinks Dozens of original cocktails, local beers and wines, and even natural syrups without coloring. Note that all suggestions on the map bear the names of the games for the most complete immersion.

Yakapiocher is a real universe represented by the place’s mascot, Mister Pioche, who adorns every corner of the room (and his story is even depicted on the map). In addition to providing an advisory service to help you choose your game, The team offers 1 to 2 varied events per week (and one Sunday a month), themed birthdays by age group at the unbeatable price of €16 per person (time for board games, entertainment and snacks included). Yakapiocher is very involved in the life of the district and also welcomes schools for initiation to the games on Thursdays and Fridays.

Finally, and this is far from trivial, a Every day from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Happy Hour is on the program with a playful wheel of fortune system.
